In an interview with Charles Bloem, Short Term and Holiday Rental Manager for Seeff Properties Atlantic Seaboard, CBD and the City Centre, five locations were highlighted as sound investment areas based on proximity to major tourist attractions, recreational facilities and the city centre. Home to the country’s highly rated visitor attractions such as Table Mountain and Robben Island, Cape Town is what area specialists talk about when they speak of location. Whether buying-to-let or searching for a home away from home, this city has it all, sun, sandy beaches, and style. Here are five locations to jumpstart or expand that property portfolio.

Bantry Bay

Located between Cape Town’s vibey Sea Point and tourist magnet Clifton, Bantry Bay is a sheltered suburb with highly sought after property. The occasional winds across the Atlantic Seaboard are no match for this area where seaside living is the norm. “Bantry Bay offers a number of upmarket property, great views of the ocean and access to shops, cafes and restaurants, all in a relaxed environment,” says Bloem.

Camps Bay

Bestowed with some of the country’s upmarket real estate and dotted with stunning beaches, Camps Bay is the Las Vegas of property investment. According to Bloem, this trendy location offers beach bungalows, large villas, luxury apartments and security complexes. Buy-to-let is also a favourable option. “Families are looking to rent furnished or unfurnished family homes that could bring in a rental income between R20k to R30k per month.”

A tranquil neighborhood that epitomises coastal living. Clifton’s beaches are abundant, named Clifton 1st to Clifton 4th, these four beachfronts are major attractions for tourists and locals. Houses in Clifton are valued for their spectacular ocean views and unsurpassed views of Table Mountain. Property sold in this area fetch millions of Rands, says Bloem.

Located in the highly prized and upmarket residential area of Lions head above Sea Point, Fresnaye is a prime suburb just stones throw away from the beautiful beaches of Sea Point and Mouille Point. Besides the suburb idyllic location just ten minutes away from Camps and Clifton, “Fresnaye enjoys proximity to restaurants, shops and has numerous luxury houses with the most magnificent views,” adds Bloem.

According to Bloem, this is one of the most prestigious suburbs in Cape Town. Higgovale is perched high on the slopes of Table Mountain, offering the most incredible views of the Cape Town city bowl. Besides the range of vibrant apartments and houses on offer, Higgovale is only minutes away from Table Mountain, the City Centre and the vibrant Kloof Street well known for its night life and vibrant cafes, bistros and shops.
